About the festival

A celebration of living heritage and shared responsibility

Festival Kassoumaye honors the traditions of Casamance while creating a bridge between generations, local knowledge, and urgent ecological action.

Festival Kassoumaye is a cultural event launched in 2025 in Casamance, inspired by the rich traditions of the Diola people. It brings together traditional music, dance, storytelling, and craftsmanship, while actively involving young people in cultural preservation.

Our ambition is to honor and pass on the living heritage of Casamance to future generations, while protecting the natural ecosystems that make this culture possible — from mangroves and sacred forests to rice paddies and ancestral lands.

Why we are raising support for 2026

Festival Kassoumaye is more than an event. It is a community-led effort to strengthen culture, empower youth, and respond to the environmental realities facing coastal Casamance.

Organize the 2026 edition

Help cover logistics, artist support, coordination, and safety so the next edition can welcome participants in strong and respectful conditions.

Offer youth workshops

Support workshops in music, dance, storytelling, and traditional crafts to encourage transmission between elders, artists, and younger generations.

Create a sustainable festival space

Contribute to practical ecological action through zero-plastic initiatives, recycling efforts, and tree planting around the festival environment.

Grow the movement

Strengthen a long-term cultural and ecological movement rooted in Casamance and open to supporters who want to protect both heritage and place.

Our vision

Culture, youth engagement, and ecological action in one shared movement

The ecological dimension is at the heart of Festival Kassoumaye. Without action, parts of the village may one day be lost to the sea. This is why the festival connects celebration with responsibility.

Cultural transmission

Traditional music, dance, storytelling, and craftsmanship are celebrated as living practices to be shared, respected, and passed on.

Youth empowerment

Young people are not just invited to attend — they are actively involved in preserving, learning, and shaping the future of local heritage.

Environmental awareness

The festival raises awareness about climate change, rising sea levels, and the urgent need to protect coastal ecosystems and ancestral lands.

Community resilience

Festival Kassoumaye brings people together around a clear message: protecting culture means protecting the land it lives on.

Support the campaign

Every contribution helps protect culture, youth, nature, and village life

The crowdfunding campaign will run on a trusted platform such as HelloAsso, Ulule, or GoFundMe, allowing supporters to contribute safely online.
